From the designer: Vantage is primarily designed to reward curiosity, observation, and shared knowledge (either with other players or with yourself from previous plays). It is a rewarding, abundant game, not a punishing game; if you pay attention, use your eyes, and discuss what you see and have seen, the game will reward you. [ie, you ALWAYS succeed when you try something … it’s just that the COST to have done it can be minor or MAJOR:) ]

Tip: Games may be harder with fewer players. However, with 4, 5 or 6 players there is quite a bit of lag before you get your turn again!

It is possible to add in or drop players to a game in progress. To add in . . . just like another escape pod landed on the planet, treat them like additional player in start up, and have them land on the planet and add 2 more black dice to the game.

Overview (queued to summing up the game – if you like it, go back to the beginning for his overview of playing the game)

Is the game good? (yes) Is it boring to replay it? (no) Is it FUN? (YES)

Is the game good? (absolutely):

EXCELLENT prepping tips BEFORE you play your first game … including keeping a journal!

How To Play

Good banter about the experience of the game (especially the last half)

OK for younger players – should not be an issue of blood or gore!

I agree! She was a delight to work with.

=======: ERRATA

=> Official Rules and FAQ (last red bar is Errata) –  so far it is this:

  • LOOK 303: Change the entire result to “As you trace the lines on the stone, three distinctly colored icons emerge. You may choose to focus on one of the three. If you choose the green icon, gain spell 1236. If you choose the pink icon, gain spell 1237. If you choose the blue icon, gain spell 1238.”
  • ENGAGE 579: In the first bullet point, 410 should be 499.
  • OVERPOWER 530: The opponent’s card should not be 1530; it should be 1521.
  • OVERPOWER 558: This should have you exit to 271, not 215.

There are also two cards missing boost outputs when you place the die on the MOVE die slot (card 957) and the OVERPOWER die slot (card 962).

If told to place challenge dice in the “center” … put them in the Penalty Section. If told to “refresh” challenge dice, they go to the dice pool.

=======: REBOXING with Deluxe components (per Jamey Stegmeier)

here’s how I do it: I put the dice in one tray, the coins in a bag on top of the boost tokens in another tray, and time/morale/health tokens in a bag on top of the skill tokens in the last tray
[player mats on very top probably]
